Floodlight League & Cup Rules

League Rules (covid-19 edition) v2

1) Order of play:
Match 1: A+C, B+D and A+D, B+C
Match 2: A+B, C+D  and A+C, B+D
Match 3: A+D, B+C  and A+B, C+D

2) Each rubber will be 50 minutes long. The result will be the score when the session ends.

3) Your team gets 2 points for each rubber won, 1 point for a draw.

4) A reserve in your team will lose half a point, a reserve against your team will give half a point. This does not affect the match result. You will also lose or gain a point/half a point, if the reserve's standard is deemed higher or lower than the replaced player. This does not apply to re-arranged matches.

5) If there is a points tie for the title then the team with the least reserves used wins. If still tied rubbers, then games difference will decide.

6) If play is stopped for any reason after the first rubber then the second rubber score will be used unless play has not started in which case teams will receive 1 point each.

7) Courts will be available from 6.30pm on Mondays & Thursdays and 5pm on Saturdays. The first rubber will start 15 minutes later. There will be a 5 minute comfort break and the second rubber will start.

8) If you are late games will be awarded to the opposing pair(s) after a 20 minute delay. For every 5 minutes or part thereof, you will concede a game. If after 30 minutes you do not arrive a reserve will be sought. If you then turn up, the reserve can decide whether to carry on, or let you step in. You will be liable to pay their match fee AND a £5 fine & your team will lose 10 points! If a reserve cannot be found then your team will concede both rubbers in which you would be involved. They, nor your opposition will be happy & you may be expelled from the league & replaced. You may be excluded from playing in next seasons Floodlight League.

9) The fees for your 15 matches are £45. Payments per match will not be possible. (Details of how to pay will be circulated)

10) If you know when you cannot play then tell Roger - ONLY Roger, & you will be refunded at the end of the season. However, you must give at least 48 hours notice for this to occur.

11) We will play in fog, light rain, wind, but not ice.

12) I will cancel the match if the weather is bad, so phone 01722 505665 by 6pm mid-week or 4.30pm on Saturday.

13) A cancelled match will normally be re-arranged for a Sunday.

We will decide whether to run the Cup competition at a later date.
